Dovetail Camp- Saturday and Sunday , May 2-3

This 2 day class takes place from 9-5 on Saturday and Sunday, May 2nd and 3rd. Classes are held at The Lunenburg Furniture Co., 15 Burma Rd., Lunenburg, NS. Class size is limited to 3 participants, so that everyone receives plenty of one on one attention.

Dovetail Camp is a deep dive into one of the quintessential joints of traditional joinery, the dovetail.

We will begin with the basic through dovetail, focusing on layout, sawing the pins and tails, and chopping and pairing the shoulders for a tight fit.

We will then explore the lapped dovetail. Once mastered you will have the knowledge to build traditional drawers, case pieces and chests.

The most important take away from this workshop will be the skills you gain using the dovetail saw, chisel and hand plane.  I will also be providing tips for speeding up certain steps with hand tools.

Coffee, tea and snacks will be provided. Please bring a lunch.
